Happy Birthday Canyon

We are glad you had a happy birthday. We are looking forward to your baptizing and celebrating your birthday with Ian. Its GREAT TO BE EIGHT!!!.

Love, Grandma and Grandpa

News from Mom and Dad

Hey Everyone,

We had a nice relaxing weekend at Bear Lake - the water temperature is a balmy 45 degrees!!! The outside temp was somewhere between 40 and 60 while we were there. We got the boat inspected so we could get our boat slip but never put it in the water. Guess that will be next month. We missed everyone and hope you'll want to come when the weather gets better. I did get Dad to play Yatzee. I challenged him to two out of three games and if I won he would have to play Scrabble - but I lost so he didn't have to play. Oh well, it was worth a try.

Thanks Alicia for the ideas for Flaming Gorge. How about some more ideas from everyone else?? I think it would be fun to have each family or families plan some evening activities. Kyle and Kristy are trying to decide about bringing the motor home. If Grandpa Tank wants to come they will for sure bring it but right now he says no. I am going to reserve one more campsite so we will have plenty of room for tents, parking, etc. I like the idea of planning a menu and then assigning out the food so we don't double up on things. As far as gas for the boats, we can divide that up between everyone. We could charge it all and then divide up the cost. What do you think?

So everyone else - let's hear from you.

Also, we are going to be at Bear Lake over the 4th of July if anyone is interested in joining us.

Jennifer and I were talking tonight about doing a family shower for Elyse. I am going to talk to Shelley at Bonco next week and see if this is something Elyse would want and who else we would invite. I am thinking I need to get a date as everyone will be getting really busy as we head into June and July.

Have a good week!!

Is anybody out there?

Okay mom - Here's an idea for food:
Tuesday: Breakfast at home, Lunch on the road, Dinner: Spaghetti
Wednesday: Breakfast - scones & fruit, Lunch - Chicken Salad Sandwiches chips & vegies
Dinner - Taco Salads
Thursday: Breakfast - pancakes & bacon, Lunch - Tuna or Egg Salad Sandwiches chips & vegies
Dinner - Hamburgers
Friday: Breakfast - Omlets in baggies & hashbrowns, Lunch - hotdogs & chips,
Dinner - BBQ Beef Sandwiches
Saturday: Breakfast - Cereal & Muffins, Lunch - anything left over, Dinner - Dutch Oven Chicken

These are just suggestions, and the order might need to be changed, but we could make a master grocery list of everything we need for each meal. Then make subcategories such as bread/chips/cereal/muffins; fruit/vegies; condiments/toppings; etc. Then each family would be responsible to purchase the items in their category. We could meet at your house on Tuesday morning to pack the coolers with everyone's stuff. I think each family should bring drinks they like, and we could just keep a couple of coolers stocked throughout the week. We could also make lemonade for meals.

I think a float down the river would be a blast - especially for the kids. I think we should all bring a couple of games too. TJ and I could pull your trailer with bikes, or if you want we could pull your boat and you can ride in our car to eliminate one extra vehicle. Bikes would be fun, but the roads in the campground are pretty steep! Get in shape if you want the bikes! If we do bring bikes everyone would have to get them to your house, or bring them out to us if they want them on the trailer. This might get a little crazy, so we should decide if it's something we really want to have up there or not.

I'm sure some will want to go fishing - just remember to get a license if you want to. I definitely want to take a Dam Tour (tradition). And I think it would be fun if each family planned a little "campfire devotional" for each night. I love the memories of the fun skits and stories we shared in Lake Powell - I think it's great for the kids.

Okay, there ya go! Hope this helps! I'm not trying to take over, but I don't see a whole lot of response out there!

Canyon's Birthday

In case any of you forgot, it is Canyon's birthday today! He is 8 years old now! Yea! It was kind of a quiet day, but enjoyable nonetheless! Happy Birthday Canyon! His baptism is on June 7th at 2:00 pm. We will have dinner at our house after!

Ideas for Flaming Gorge

Hi Everyone,

I know it seems like a long time away but I would like to get some ideas on how everyone would like to make plans for our family trip.

First, Kyle and Kristy - are you planning on bringing the motorhome? I am going to make one more campsite reservation so we have enough room for all the vehicles and it will give us some extra camping space. I have looked on line and there are spaces still available but some are pull throughs and some are back-ins. So let me know what you think your plans might be.

Some ideas for planning the food are
  • Plan the meals we want and assign to each family or two families together
  • Have each family take a day and plan their own meals for everyone
  • One family could bring things like mayonaise, mustard, milk, salt, pepper, etc so we don't double up on some things
  • We could plan the meals and assign different things for each family to bring
  • I think it would be too hard to shop for all the food at once and get it to Flaming Gorge
  • What do you want for meals?

What other activities should we plan?

  • Floating the river (I didn't hear back from anyone but Alicia before)
  • Games
  • A family talent night
  • Fishing
  • Games
  • Bicycles

What equipment does everyone have that we could share and not have to bring double?

What days are you planning coming? The campsites are reserved from Tuesday to Sunday.

Any other ideas or suggestions???? Mom and Dad

Yea! A New Car!

Here's the newest addition to the Cerva Family...We should have it by the end of the week. We had to bring it home to make sure it fits in the garage. With a little cleaning, and rearranging, we made it work - just barely! If you know of anyone who would like (as TJ puts it) a "lightly used" mini-van, let us know!

I think a float down the river sounds like fun!

Family Vacation

Hi Everyone,

I am just looking forward to our summer vacation. ( and so is Dad except for sleeping in the tent!!). I would like to get the girls together and start making some plans for food, etc. Looks like spagetti is ahead in the pole. Would everyone please check to see what days you are planning on coming to Flaming Gorge. I have 3 campsites from Tuesday, August 5th to Sunday August 10th. We may need another campsite. What does everyone think about doing a float down the river?

Also, we will be going to Bear Lake over Memorial Day if anyone would like to join us. Let me know.

Jenn & Fletch - your boat is beautiful!
